ISSBA Event Review - Anglia Business Spotlight 2018

Jane from Cruse Suffolk reviews our Anglia Business Spotlight event which took place on 22nd November at Wherstead Park

Jane ORiordanISSBA’S Anglia Business Spotlight took place in the beautiful Wherstead Park manor house which was magnificently lit up. Eight lucky participants had been chosen to be interviewed by Suffolk’s professional journalist, Rachel Sloane, about their successes and challenges of running a business. I’d been invited to talk about the work I do for Cruse as a volunteer and fund raiser.

ISSBA has kindly chosen Cruse to be their charity of the year which is so exciting for us and I was able to give a bit more in depth information about the work we do for the bereaved of Suffolk. It was fascinating to learn more about other people’s businesses and Rachel is such a professional.

We were then able to network among the excellent turn out of entrepreneurs and eat some delicious food put on by the Co-op Secure Response who kindly sponsored the event. Some of us were lucky enough to be invited to visit the Alarm Receiving Centre which is built like Fort Knox. They work closely with the police and because of innovative video systems the business is able to respond to crimes being committed in the county. They also answer the ‘phones for the funeral service arm of the Co-op so the staff employed there have to have a 6 week specialised training.

The raffle raised £60 for Cruse on the successful and most enjoyable night. To date ISSBA has raised £250 for the charity. Thank you.
