Chair Report - December 2018

ISSBA Chair, Samuel Stamp-Dod, offers a snapshot of the latest ISSBA news.

VIP xmas 3Hello all. Last newsletter of 2018! Firstly, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of us at ISSBA.

This month we are launching our evening social events with an informal Christmas drinks evening on 13th December at The Dove Street Inn. No fee apart from what you choose to spend at the bar, just a chance to celebrate the festive season with a drink or two. As this is the first event of this type, we would be very grateful if you could let us know if you are planning to attend by booking here so we can gauge interest. Hope to see you there!

Anglia Business Exhibition 2019 is proving popular so don’t leave it too long if you haven’t already booked your stand. There are also some sponsorship opportunities available if you would like to really maximise your exposure. ABE19 will take place on 15th May 2019 at Trinity Park. Visit www.angliabusinessexhibition.com to book or for further information. If you are interested in taking up one of our sponsorship opportunities, please call Kim Brown on 01473 927331 or Sonia Shelcott on 01473 410278.

Our January networking event will be at The New Wolsey Theatre on 30th January so make sure you book your place. Thank you to The New Wolsey for sponsoring this event and we are looking forward to hearing from their Head of Communications, Michelle Emmerson-Grey who will be talking about sales, marketing and customer loyalty.

Anglia Business Spotlight took place on 22nd November and was a fantastic evening. Thank you to our sponsors Co-op Secure Response, Rachel Sloane, our panel members and everyone that attended.

As a small business owner, I understand how much hard work is involved in building a successful business and how it can take over your life, so for this month’s business focus piece I have shared my tips for making sure you take some time out to enjoy the festive period.

ISSBA’s final Member of the Month for 2018 is SimpleClick. They celebrated their 10 year anniversary in November and they have been an ISSBA member for much of that time. Congratulations from all at ISSBA!

Our new Recommend a Friend scheme is starting to take off, it is great to see ISSBA members benefiting from this. Any current ISSBA member will get one month's free membership for each new member they recommend, plus the new member also gets one free month, so Win-Win! There are no limits to how many referrals each ISSBA member can make as long as you have a current, paid up membership, so if you bring in 12 new members you'll get a whole year for free!

GoCardless is making the renewal process much easier for many of our members. If you haven’t signed up yet, either let us know on mail@issba.co.uk or keep an eye on your inbox for an authorisation request. GoCardless is a direct debit system fully protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee and means that you never need to worry about forgetting to renew again.  By signing up to this you will help your committee save valuable time in chasing renewals, so please, if you aren’t already signed up, please do!

Don’t forget to let us know if you have any ideas for our evening social events. If you run a business that would benefit from our members visiting, we would love to work with you so please do get in touch!

Don’t forget that if you have any suggestions/comments or would like to be considered for a future Member of the Month feature, please get in touch on mail@issba.co.uk.
