Chair Report - January 2019

ISSBA Chair, Samuel Stamp-Dod, offers a snapshot of the latest ISSBA news.

Samuel Stamp DodHello all. Happy New Year! I hope you all had a fantastic festive break and are refreshed and raring to go.

To start your 2019 in the best way possible, our January networking event will be at The New Wolsey Theatre on 30th January so make sure you book your place. Thank you to The New Wolsey for sponsoring this event and we are looking forward to hearing from their Head of Communications, Michelle Emmerson-Grey who will be talking about sales, marketing and customer loyalty.

Thanks to all that came along to our informal drinks event in December, a good time was had by all and it was a great way to launch our social events calendar. We will shortly be announcing details of our next social event which will be a comedy night in February so watch this space! We are keen to make our social calendar as appealing to our members as possible so if you have any ideas of something you think would work well, please let us know.

Anglia Business Exhibition 2019 is selling fast – at the point of writing there are only 18 stands left! There are also some sponsorship opportunities available if you would like to really maximise your exposure. ABE19 will take place on 15th May 2019 at Trinity Park. Visit www.angliabusinessexhibition.com to book or for further information. If you are interested in taking up one of our sponsorship opportunities, please call Kirsty Brown on 01473 927331 or Sonia Shelcott on 01473 410278.

How many of you set New Year’s resolutions for your business? How many of you stick to them? James Davey from The Sales Masters Guild has written this month’s business focus piece and shares his tips on making effective changes in your business.

Our new Recommend a Friend scheme is starting to take off, it is great to see ISSBA members benefiting from this. Any current ISSBA member will get one month's free membership for each new member they recommend, plus the new member also gets one free month, so Win-Win! There are no limits to how many referrals each ISSBA member can make as long as you have a current, paid up membership, so if you bring in 12 new members you'll get a whole year for free!

GoCardless is making the renewal process much easier for many of our members. If you haven’t signed up yet, either let us know on mail@issba.co.uk or keep an eye on your inbox for an authorisation request. GoCardless is a direct debit system fully protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee and means that you never need to worry about forgetting to renew again.  By signing up to this you will help your committee save valuable time in chasing renewals, so please, if you aren’t already signed up, please do!

Don’t forget that if you have any suggestions/comments or would like to be considered for a future Member of the Month feature or you would like to write a business focus piece, please get in touch on mail@issba.co.uk.
