Chair Report - February 2019

ISSBA Chair, Samuel Stamp-Dod, offers a snapshot of the latest ISSBA news.

Samuel Stamp DodHello all. Lots to share with you this month so I’ll get straight to it!

Thanks to everyone that came to our January networking event at The New Wolsey Theatre on 30th January. It was a fantastic event and special thanks to The New Wolsey for sponsoring. Our comedy night social event on 4th February was also great fun, thank you to Glass Eye Comedy and the Cock & Pye. You can read reviews on both events here

Our next event is a Meet the Members Networking event at Emma’s Florist new shop in St Peter’s Street. Thank you to Emma for sponsoring this event where she will be talking about their plans for Mother’s Day. Emma is also our February Member of the Month – have you ever wondered why we celebrate Mother’s Day? If so, read her article to find out.

Anglia Business Exhibition 2019 – big news this month, exhibitor stands have sold out in record breaking time! There are still some sponsorship opportunities available so don’t panic if you missed out on a stand, just call Kirsty Brown on 01473 927331 or Sonia Shelcott on 01473 410278. ABE19 will take place on 15th May 2019 at Trinity Park. Visit for further information.

Many of us spend long hours sitting at a desk or do a physically strenuous job and consequently suffer a range of aches and pains. In this month’s business focus article, Jen Evans (Soft Tissue Therapy by Jen Evans) shares some hints and tips on how to avoid this.

Our new Recommend a Friend scheme is starting to take off, it is great to see ISSBA members benefiting from this. Any current ISSBA member will get one month's free membership for each new member they recommend, plus the new member also gets one free month, so Win-Win! There are no limits to how many referrals each ISSBA member can make as long as you have a current, paid up membership, so if you bring in 12 new members you'll get a whole year for free!

GoCardless is making the renewal process much easier for many of our members. If you haven’t signed up yet, either let us know on or keep an eye on your inbox for an authorisation request. GoCardless is a direct debit system fully protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee and means that you never need to worry about forgetting to renew again.  By signing up to this you will help your committee save valuable time in chasing renewals, so please, if you aren’t already signed up, please do!

Don’t forget that if you have any suggestions/comments or would like to be considered for a future Member of the Month feature or you would like to write a business focus piece, please get in touch on
