One of the things I love about the ISSBA Meet the Member events is having the opportunity to visit different locations across Suffolk, and get a glimpse ‘behind the scenes’ in members’ businesses.Emmas Florist

The February Meet the Members event was kindly hosted by Emma’s Florist at their new premises - 13 Peter’s Street, Ipswich.  Having established a popular florist shop on Nacton Road, Ipswich over the past 15 years, Emma opened the new branch in the town centre just over six months ago and it has gone from strength to strength.  Focusing more on ‘shabby-chic’ style floral arrangements - whereas the Nacton Road shop is more traditional - the shop has attracted a lot of walk-in trade in its prominent location.

It’s a really beautiful shop - do visit if you are passing by!  The exposed timber work and decorative plaster ceilings featuring, you guessed it, flowers, are really quite something!

As members and visitors started to arrive, we filed into the back room where Emma supplied the refreshments and we heard about the background to Emma’s Florist, and all the exciting developments since opening the new shop. Emma also runs popular workshops where you can learn how to make floral arrangements with one coming up in advance of Mother’s Day and Easter but they are booked up really quickly so don’t hang about if you want to book!

We had a great turnout for the event and lots of networking chatter! I made a great connection who I’ll be following up with - sometimes you don’t know you need someone’s services until you get chatting to them and suddenly a piece drops into place! That’s the beauty of networking for me - not only finding services that you need, but also knowing who to direct people toward.

ISSBA Meet the Members is a great way to broaden your network in a friendly and low-pressure environment, and a fantastic opportunity to learn more about local businesses!

The next event for the diaries is a social on Wednesday, 13th March at Inspire Suffolk - an evening event featuring Drone Racing!  Hope to see you there!
