What has ISSBA done for me?

Kim Brown has been an ISSBA member since 2006. She explains what ISSBA has meant for her and her business over the years.

When I started Boleyn Events in April 2006, the ISSBA Trade Fair was the first business event I ever attended.  How strange then that thirteen years later, having won the Tender for management of theFunding Falcon stand event from December of 2006, and then for the 12 years after, we are now moving in a new direction with the company, and here I am having been on the Committee and even ISSBA chairman announcing that to fellow ISSBA members.  Having successfully managed what changed from the Trade Fair to the Suffolk Business Exhibition to the Anglia Business Exhibition for ISSBA since 2006, as well as countless other events for the likes of Suffolk Chambers of Commerce, Suffolk County Council, and many other corporate and private functions, my daughter Kirsty and I set up Funding Falcon.  We successfully gained a Financial Conduct Authority licence, first to offer finance to those booking weddings with us, and then upgrading to enable us to offer Point of Sale finance to other retailers/companies selling goods and services direct to consumers.

It’s an exciting time for us and having a network of contacts and advisers really helps.  We have recently moved to new premises - again through a colleague I’ve known now for the last 12 years!  Being part of ISSBA has been a valuable source of support, and business networks, enabling me to make friends and contacts throughout East Anglia.  Time and time again, I meet people who know me through having been part of ISSBA or ABE.   To enable us to concentrate on this new venture, we are focussing all our attention to make it fly - if you’ll pardon the pun.  But this time, I’m not alone - it is a joint venture with Kirsty my daughter and, between us and our team, we have years of experience and colleagues in business who are all ready to help in any way they can.

FUNDING FALCON LOGO WHITE RGB LRFunding Falcon enables businesses all over the UK access to Point of Sale finance. Finance is known to be notoriously tricky to obtain, shrouded in red tape, rules and highly regulated. Funding Falcon deals with all of the compliance, registration and admin side of things, meaning you can concentrate on your business. Customers could be buying goods and services on finance in a matter of hours, we have membership options to suit every business, from our ‘try before you buy’ option, through to our fully FCA regulated version.

You can’t put a price on having a network of support or the far-reaching circles of influence they cover, but it goes without saying that joining ISSBA and getting involved in the Committee and their flagship event, ABE, was one of the best business decisions I have made.
