ISSBA Event Review - AGM 2019

Outgoing Chair Samuel Stamp-Dod reviews the 2019 ISSBA AGM.

Samuel Stamp DodThis month saw my last ISSBA committee meeting and AGM as I have chosen to stand down for a while.  I have enjoyed my time on the ISSBA committee, exploring new ideas for monthly networking meetings and working towards making the Anglia Business Exhibition even more successful.

I must take this opportunity to thank the committee members for their support they have shown me over the last few years.  They are a truly amazing group of people who volunteer to help support small businesses, like mine, with the work they do for ISSBA, thank you.

I would also like to thank our hosts for this year’s AGM, Ufford Park, who provided both the wonderful venue as well as a tasty buffet to conclude our evening.  For those of you who were not able to make this years AGM, you missed out on seeing a beautiful venue set in acres of delightful scenery.  As well as hosting events, such as ours, Ufford Park also provide several function rooms, a hotel, spa and golf course with their new attraction, crazy golf!

I was also delighted to be handing over the reins of ISSBA to our new chair, Graham Barton.  Many of you will know Graham as he is an avid networker, attending all of the ISSBA events as well as many other hosted throughout the area.  Graham has been the figure head of Barton Electrical for over 50 years and will bring with him a wealth of knowledge to his new role as our Chair.

The AGM also saw our latest member to join the committee, Darrell Smith from Archway Carpets, another avid networker who has already shown a great interest in working towards improving the Anglia Business Exhibition.  Talking of ABE, we announced at the AGM that Angela Aldous of Lets Party will be taking on the role of organising and promoting ABE for us, so look out for emails from her asking for your support!  For several years, these duties have been taken by Kim Brown of Bowlyn Events and Sonia Shelcott of Millhouse Media and I would like to repeat my thanks to them for all the hard work they have done over the years – Angela, you have a lot to live up to!!

Although I am standing down from the committee, I will not be leaving ISSBA and hope to see you all again at future events.
