Chair Report - November 2019

ISSBA Chair, Graham Barton, offers a snapshot of the latest ISSBA news.

Graham BartonHello all, welcome to the ISSBA November newsletter.

Anglia Business Exhibition 2020 is really starting to take shape and we are very excited for next year’s event. We will be back at Trinity Park on 13th May 2020 following fantastic feedback from ABE19. Stands are now available to book and we have some superb sponsorship opportunities if you really want to maximise your exposure. As the largest and most established B2B exhibition in the area, this event always books up quickly so book now to get the position you want.

There is lots more exciting news to come on ABE20 so watch this space carefully for updates. Find out more or book your stand at www.angliabusinessexhibition.com.ABE

I would like to thank everyone involved in making Anglia Business Spotlight 2019 such a fantastic event. Thanks go to Suffolk New College for sponsoring and hosting, Georgy Jamieson for doing an amazing job as our interviewer, our lucky panel members and everyone that attended. We also raised £66.72 during the evening for our Charity of the Year, Over the Rainbow Children’s Charity. You can read a full review of Anglia Business Spotlight here.

Our next event is a Meet the Members Networking Event on 27th November on board the Allen Gardiner in the vibrant surroundings of Ipswich Waterfront. Everyone is welcome, you don’t need to be a member and our events are always very friendly. Book your place now!

Have you ever worked in an organisation with arguments or people that didn’t get on? Kate Kelly, The Business Plumber, shares her advice on how to tackle this in this month’s Business Focus article.

Our November Member of the Month is Suffolk Libraries. They explain how libraries are no longer purely places of revered silence filled with books but have evolved into important community hubs, with a range of events and facilities that are perfect for everyone from children to local businesses.

Our new Recommend a Friend scheme is starting to take off, it is great to see ISSBA members benefiting from this. Any current ISSBA member will get one month's free membership for each new member they recommend, plus the new member also gets one free month, so Win-Win! There are no limits to how many referrals each ISSBA member can make as long as you have a current, paid up membership, so if you bring in 12 new members, you'll get a whole year for free!

GoCardless is making the renewal process much easier for many of our members. If you haven’t signed up yet, either let us know on mail@issba.co.uk or keep an eye on your inbox for an authorisation request. GoCardless is a direct debit system fully protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee and means that you never need to worry about forgetting to renew again.  By signing up to this you will help your committee save valuable time in chasing renewals, so please, if you aren’t already signed up, please do!

Don’t forget that if you have any suggestions/comments or would like to be considered for a future Member of the Month feature or you would like to write a business focus piece, please get in touch on mail@issba.co.uk.
