Chair Report - December 2019

ISSBA Chair, Graham Barton, offers a snapshot of the latest ISSBA news.

Graham BartonHello all, welcome to the ISSBA December newsletter.

Anglia Business Exhibition 2020 - we will be back at Trinity Park on 13th May 2020 following fantastic feedback from ABE19. Stands are now available to book and we have some superb sponsorship opportunities if you really want to maximise your exposure. As the largest and most established B2B exhibition in the area, this event always books up quickly so book now to get the position you want. Read our ABE article to find out how ABE could benefit your organisation or visit

Our November networking event turned out to be a fantastic morning, despite some pretty major traffic problems in Ipswich that day! Thank you to The Allen Gardiner who kindly sponsored the event. It was a lovely location and they looked after us well with some delicious refreshments including home made apple pie and muffins. You can read a full review of the event here.

Our next event is an informal Christmas drinks event on 18th December at The Dove Street Inn. Everyone is welcome, you don’t need to be a member and our events are always very friendly. Find out more and book your place now!

Staying with ABE, our Business Focus article this month is titled ‘Are you ready to use email marketing to boost your exhibition results?’. Thank you to 101Smart Limited for sharing some really useful advice and tips.

Our December Member of the Month is VIP Cocktails. Bob Scott has been making cocktails for over 25 years and has been an ISSBA member for many of those years! To help you celebrate the festive season, Bob shares recipes for a couple of Christmas cocktails.

Our new Recommend a Friend scheme is starting to take off, it is great to see ISSBA members benefiting from this. Any current ISSBA member will get one month's free membership for each new member they recommend, plus the new member also gets one free month, so Win-Win! There are no limits to how many referrals each ISSBA member can make as long as you have a current, paid up membership, so if you bring in 12 new members, you'll get a whole year for free!

GoCardless is making the renewal process much easier for many of our members. If you haven’t signed up yet, either let us know on or keep an eye on your inbox for an authorisation request. GoCardless is a direct debit system fully protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee and means that you never need to worry about forgetting to renew again.  By signing up to this you will help your committee save valuable time in chasing renewals, so please, if you aren’t already signed up, please do!

Don’t forget that if you have any suggestions/comments or would like to be considered for a future Member of the Month feature or you would like to write a business focus piece, please get in touch on

Lastly, I’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year on behalf of the ISSBA committee.

Graham Barton, ISSBA Chair
