ISSBA Event Review - ISSBA/ABE Virtual Business Summit

ISSBA/ABE Virtual Business Summit reviewed by Merie Sennett, Spartan Consultants

On 13th May, ISSBA hosted a virtual business summit to bring the local business community together during lock down. It was the first event of its kind in our region.Virtual summit logo

The event ran throughout the day and included live webinars, pre-recorded videos, networking and prize drawers/giveaways with 23 speakers across 8 categories and over 140 attendees.

This was a truly innovative event which remained lively and enjoyable throughout the day. I was particularly impressed with the standard of the talks and pre-recorded videos. All of the speakers had clearly put a lot of effort into their topics as well as the way they presented them.

There were many networking opportunities throughout the event with the main chat room being constantly occupied while breakout rooms provided the chance to chat in small groups.

Comments following the event included:

  • A triumph! Well done!
  • It was definitely a well organised and enjoyable day, connecting with new people and catching up with others. Well done.
  • Excellent day, a very memorable day and extreme thanks to Ruth and Merie supported by committee members who put in so much effort to bring a first for a virtual business exhibition and networking for our local business community (Graham Barton ISSBA Chair)
  • Bloody brilliant. Well done for some quality pioneering work - you’ve set the bar very high indeed.
  • An absolutely superb day. For those that missed it or did not take part you will have to wait for another time. 23 speakers all had something to share with everyone, well worth watching again!

The event closed with one final networking session which was a lovely way to end as everyone relaxed together and discussed the day. I found I was almost as tired as I usually am at the end of the physical ABE event but without the sore feet!

All in all, it was a fantastic and thoroughly enjoyable event which utilised innovative technology to allow a large number of local businesses to connect during lock down which was much needed and very welcome during these unprecedented times!

If you missed the event, you can still view the talks here or via YouTube.
