Chair Report - July 2020

ISSBA Chair, Graham Barton, offers a snapshot of the latest ISSBA news

Graham BartonHello all, welcome to the ISSBA July newsletter.

We are always keen to hear your ideas, suggestions and feedback to make sure we offer the best we possibly can to our members and we appreciate that many of our members’ needs may have changed during 2020. If you haven’t already done so, please complete our survey here.

Thank you to everyone that attended our virtual AGM this year, it was an enjoyable evening. I was delighted to announce Jetty Lane as our new Charity of the Year. They told us all about their charity and would like to invite a small number of ISSBA members to join them as partners/ambassadors. They are flexible on how this would work but it could include things such as providing them with advice or simply helping to spread their message, share social media posts etc. To find out more or for contact details, please click here. Jetty Lane are also our July member of the month.

I would like to welcome Amanda-Jane Frank from Cameron Ventures to the ISSBA committee. She has been an ISSBA member for many years and we are looking forward to working with her.

Would you like to join the ISSBA committee? If so, let us know on as we currently have openings for a couple of new members to join our team. We are a friendly bunch and usually meet once per month (via Zoom currently!). As well as having a say in how the organisation is run, this is a fantastic opportunity to build your profile in the local area. Get in touch if you’d like to know more.

Our next event is online networking on Wednesday 22nd July. We are looking forward to a talk from Andrew Peck Safety Solutions Ltd who will be speaking about health and safety for returning to the workplace after lockdown. Book your place here.

Anglia Business Exhibition 2020 – due to take place on 8th September at Trinity Park and will provide a really valuable tool to help businesses reconnect and promote themselves. We are grateful for all of your support and hope you will join us to really celebrate our business community. Make sure you’ve booked your stand, prices start at just £195 plus VAT. Don’t forget that if you haven’t yet booked, you can secure your stand with just a 40% deposit payable now with the balance not due until 8th August. Visit to book or email for further info. Read our latest ABE news here!

This month’s Business Focus piece has been written by PC Futures Ltd. As we are all starting to return to some sort of normality, they share their advice for getting your business up and running following lockdown.

Don’t forget our Recommend a Friend, it is great to see ISSBA members benefiting from this. Any current ISSBA member will get one month's free membership for each new member they recommend, plus the new member also gets one free month, so Win-Win! There are no limits to how many referrals each ISSBA member can make as long as you have a current, paid up membership, so if you bring in 12 new members, you'll get a whole year for free!

GoCardless is making the renewal process much easier for many of our members. If you haven’t signed up yet, either let us know on or keep an eye on your inbox for an authorisation request. GoCardless is a direct debit system fully protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee and means that you never need to worry about forgetting to renew again.  By signing up to this you will help your committee save valuable time in chasing renewals, so please, if you aren’t already signed up, please do!

Don’t forget that if you have any suggestions/comments or would like to be considered for a future Member of the Month feature or you would like to write a business focus piece, please get in touch on

Keep well and stay safe!
