Chair Report - November 2023

ISSBA Chair, Graham Barton, offers a snapshot of the latest ISSBA news

Graham Barton Jan 2023Hello and welcome to ISSBA’s November newsletter!

Our Anglia Business Spotlight event on 25th October was fantastic and a good time was had by all – thank you to everyone that attended, especially our panel members. Special thanks to University of Suffolk for the use of their amazing venue, Prestige Bars & Catering for lovely refreshments and Georgy Jamieson for doing an amazing job conducting the interviews.

Make sure you’ve booked your place for our November networking event. DJV Boutique in Ipswich are kindly sponsoring and hosting us on 22nd November from 9.30am to 11.30am. As well as a warm welcome and friendly networking, we are looking forward to a mini style demo, refreshments and a chance to browse for some Christmas presents or a new outfit.

Anglia Business Exhibition 2024 takes place on 8th May at Trinity Park next year and stands are selling fast so make sure you’ve secured your spot so you don’t miss out. Visit to book your stand or if you are interested in becoming an ABE2024 sponsor, get in touch now on Read our ABE2024 update here and find out answers to some commonly asked questions.

Member of the Month for November is Prestige Bars & Catering. They share some really useful advice on the importance of being able to adapt to suit changing customer/market place needs.

If you fancy a trip to London this month, why not book free tickets to The London Business Show? It is the largest business event in Europe and takes place at the ExCeL on 22nd and 23rd November. Find out more and book here.

Would you be interested in joining the ISSBA committee? If so, let us know on We are a friendly bunch and usually meet once per month (via Zoom currently). As well as having a say in how the organisation is run, this is a fantastic opportunity to build your profile in the local area. Get in touch if you’d like to know more.

Don’t forget our Recommend a Friend scheme, it is great to see ISSBA members benefiting from this. Any current ISSBA member will get one month's free membership for each new member they recommend, plus the new member also gets one free month, so Win-Win! There are no limits to how many referrals each ISSBA member can make as long as you have a current, paid up membership, so if you bring in 12 new members, you'll get a whole year for free!

GoCardless is making the renewal process much easier for many of our members. If you haven’t signed up yet, either let us know on or keep an eye on your inbox for an authorisation request. GoCardless is a direct debit system fully protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee and means that you never need to worry about forgetting to renew again.  By signing up to this you will help your committee save valuable time in chasing renewals, so please, if you aren’t already signed up, please do!
